How SmartGo Has Helped Leicester College Encourage Sustainable Commuting

As a long-time member of SmartGo, Leicester College staff have made hundreds of savings on their commute over the years. Group Travel Coordinator, Wendy Fearn, explains how it's benefited the organisation and enabled more employees to take up sustainable transport. 

“In my role as group travel co-ordinator for Leicester College, SmartGo makes my life much easier. Without it, we would have looked to source separate travel discounts for staff but by becoming members of SmartGo, we have everything in one place and staff can just search online for the latest offers, tips and helpful hints.

“We have over 1,500 staff across three main campuses and six outreach centres, so workplace travel is a key consideration for us. Through the SmartGo programme, people have bought electric cars, season tickets for buses and yearly subscriptions for train tickets so it’s made our travel to work more affordable.

“SmartGo has evolved significantly since we first joined up – there are many more offers and discounts now, and we can see the difference that it’s made and will continue to make for our staff, particularly in encouraging greater use of sustainable travel.”
